Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is a mystery to a lot of people. Yes, one may have heard of it at one time or another – but if it doesn’t really concern you and you’re not inclined into medical literature, you won’t really take the time to learn what Alzheimer is all about.
So it’s not surprising that on certain occasions, whenever I mention Alzheimer’s as a topic of discussion with acquaintances, I always get sort of a blank stare. To fill that uncomfortable silence, I point my index finger to my head and say, “memory loss.” And then something seems to click at that realization of what Alzheimer’s is in simple, everyday terms. Funny, how at times, I can actually see sighs of relief from them, followed by the usual “Ah yes, of course,” and expressions of acknowledgement.
But if I just continue the conversation and explain that, “Alzheimer’s is a chronic disease which involves the loss of cognitive function,” then I would have lost their attention altogether.
In this section, 4get-me-not.org presents informative videos about AD. We have initially collaborated with medical specialists in the fields of Geriatrics, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Organic Medicine to provide their expertise and to help us better understand Alzheimer’s.
